What We Do
Capability Territories
Reach organizes consulting work into capability territories. These territories describe the types of business questions Reach may examine; they are not separate priced offerings.
Business challenges rarely remain inside one category. A delivery problem may involve pricing, capacity, systems, roles, or decision-making. The territories help organize the work while allowing the engagement to follow the evidence.
Analytical Disciplines
The Four Capability Territories
Explore the four primary capability territories to understand the questions and business areas each one may address.
Operations
Operations is the territory of how the work actually gets done - the sequence between a commitment being made and the work being delivered, who is responsible at each step, and the daily rhythm the business runs on.
Questions Addressed:
- •Whether the way the business runs today can carry current volume and intended expansion.
- •Where work stalls, doubles back, or waits - and what it is waiting on.
- •Who is responsible for what, and where responsibility is assumed rather than assigned.
Systems
Systems is the territory of the infrastructure that supports the work - software, tools, communication channels, documented processes, and the connections between them.
Questions Addressed:
- •Which systems exist because someone selected them, and which accumulated by default.
- •Where information is re-entered, lost, or trapped in one person's head or inbox.
- •Whether the tools the business uses make work clearer or merely add manual administrative overhead.
Finance
Finance is the territory of financial business analysis - examining what the numbers show about how the business is performing, where money is made and lost, and what the financial evidence requires the business to do.
Questions Addressed:
- •What the financial data actually shows about margin, profitability, and cost per service or product.
- •Where the business is spending money on things that do not produce what was expected of them.
- •Whether pricing reflects true costs, labor delivery requirements, and economic contribution.
Architecture
Architecture is the territory of structural design - how the business is built, how its parts fit together, and whether the structure can support where the organization intends to go.
Questions Addressed:
- •Whether the current business model still matches the reality of the market and the organization.
- •How the organizational structure needs to change before the business attempts to grow.
- •Which parts of the business are foundational, and which are opportunistic additions that create drag.
Consulting Architecture
A Territory, Not a Service
Capability territories describe the kinds of business questions Reach works on, and the categories it organizes its work by. They are not separate services and they are not priced separately. A territory is worked through Consulting Services, and a single engagement may cross more than one territory.
Corporate Training & Development and Professional Speaking may draw on the same subject matter, but the commercial relationship and purpose remain distinct. Consulting works on the organization's actual business problem; training develops the knowledge, judgment, or capability of people.
Governance & Scope
Consulting Scope & Additional Disciplines
Related work may also involve feasibility, decision support, implementation planning, leadership, organizational structure, or a separate Business Assessment.
You do not need to select the correct territory before starting a conversation. An inquiry or assessment may begin in one area and show that the primary constraint sits somewhere else. Scope follows the client’s actual situation rather than a rigid category.
“You don't need to diagnose the engagement yourself.”
We determine the appropriate territory focus and consulting scope together through initial diagnostic examination.
